My dad thought I was absolutely insane when I sat him down one day in early 2018 and told him I was going to start a skincare business with all of my varsity savings. In Fact, he laughed and said I would get bored of it in a few months, as I typically did of new hobbies. My dad was also slightly concerned that I was willingly about to throw my hard-saved varsity funds into this just because I woke up one day and thought hell yeah this is sick!
Now, to give my amazing dad some credit here, he was not entirely wrong, I did have a habit of starting many things and leaving them in the wasteland of my thoughts, but this time, I struck accidental gold, I found a passion for the skincare world. At the time, I was actually pursuing an art degree (my first found passion) and with due time, my focus completely shifted to skincare.
From a small little google recipe skincare business in 2018 to a full blown qualified formulator running a wholesale business in 2024, we've come a very long way. And it certainly was not a smooth road- I cried a lot, but I had a vision.
Oh and before my dad asks where was his shout-out here, Shout out to my dad managing operations. (I just know he's going to read this)
So important things to take from this:
1. Don't be afraid to do crazy things, do it scared, do it tired, but do it.
2. Another silly little quote- find what you love and let it kill you.
3. The only restrictions we have, is what we give ourselves.
4. It feels super great to have an I told you so moment when all the hard work pays off.
(My dad admitted he was wrong about this about two months after the first business launched in 2018, but it's still fun to say told you so.
